I decided to add a new segment to my blog called ‘Friday’s Fantasy’ as I’ve been reading some fantastic books lately! Every Friday, I’ll be recommending a Fantasy read to you guys! I hope to encourage you to read different fantasy books wether it be urban fantasy, high fantasy, new adult or young adult fantasy!

Friday’s Fantasy #1 The Bone Season

Author: Samantha Shannon

Pages: 452

Published: August 20th 2013

Publisher: Bloomsbury USA

Genre: Fantasy, Romance, Young adult

Rating: 5/5

I really think THE BONE SEASON is an underrated and underhyped book as it’s really fantastic. Shannon created such a complex but nevertheless understandable world, it’s mind-blowingly perfect.

About the book:

The year is 2059. Nineteen-year-old Paige Mahoney is working in the criminal underworld of Scion London, based at Seven Dials, employed by a man named Jaxon Hall. Her job: to scout for information by breaking into people’s minds. For Paige is a dreamwalker, a clairvoyant and, in the world of Scion, she commits treason simply by breathing.

It is raining the day her life changes for ever. Attacked, drugged and kidnapped, Paige is transported to Oxford – a city kept secret for two hundred years, controlled by a powerful, otherworldly race. Paige is assigned to Warden, a Rephaite with mysterious motives. He is her master. Her trainer. Her natural enemy. But if Paige wants to regain her freedom she must allow herself to be nurtured in this prison where she is meant to die.

I was so happy to have found this book, I’m not even kidding. Not only was this a great read but it wakened my need to read more fantasy books which was a huge relieve as I was in a reading slump for quite a while but this baby pulled me straight out of it.
